Question symbols of femininity and the complicated nature of the body through my perspective, as a Gender Non-conforming Dyke. This work combines chewed gum and hair, creating a tension between two familiar materials we do not believe should never touch. Locks of hair and saliva have existed as both symbols of desire and repulsion. By combining these two types of bodily waste into one bright and desirable object, I am celebrating their abject nature. I heavily reference Victorian mourning jewelry using traditional techniques of weaving hair learned from an 1867 guidebook on the hair jewelry trade. Surrounding the pieces are orbs formed from gum that has been transformed through my own queer body. This residue takes the place of the desirable pearl, where my body becomes the oyster and the gum becomes the gem. Through this work, I am simultaneously embracing the queer body and mourning for its dejection.

Items purchased through our Craft Fair Exhibitors will have applied shipping rates set by the exhibitor and will vary. Allow 2 weeks for orders to ship.
Exhibition Shipping Rates are not calculated at checkout, but will be invoiced separately to reflect the exact shipping cost of the item.
*Please note that all online and in-person purchases of Exhibition work while the show is up will remain in the gallery until the show's end date. After the show's end date the work can be picked up or shipped to you.
Special Rate Items are items that are over-sized or not eligible for free shipping over $250. You total order will be charged a flat rate of $25 to ship. Special Rate Items will be noted as such in the item's description.

Sales Tax
Peters Valley is required to charge sales tax on purchases shipped to New Jersey.
Insurance
Insurance can be purchased separately through third-party company Route during checkout. Route provides protection for shipments that are lost, broken, or stolen. Route is added to your cart at checkout to enable protection by default, but can be removed if you chose to opt out of insuring your order. If you choose to opt out of the Route Insurance, and your package is lost, stolen or damaged, you will have to file a claim with the shipping carrier directly.
