Process/Concept:
This piece was woven on a 10 harness floor loom using double weave pick-up and double weave block techniques to create a triple-layered cloth. The organic shapes are formed using a pick-up technique, where the sheds are hand selected across the width of the loom for each pass of the weft yarn. The alternating layers are carefully planned in panels, which are then stitched together. Reversals in which layer of cloth is on top serve to obscure and alter the original line drawing that composed the piece. This imagery in this piece came from line drawings and studies I was doing on paper. Interested in the way that pattern obscures image, and in our bodies' intimate and evolutionary relationship with cloth, I am always curious about using pattern, color, and layered weaving techniques to represent images of the body and then obscure them. This piece developed from a series of weavings I made that were directly representational. The final piece in this series, I was interested in abstracting the body through drawings that referenced the outward motion and inner dialogues of our physical bodies.

Special Rate Items are items that are over-sized or not eligible for free shipping over $250. You total order will be charged a flat rate of $25 to ship. Special Rate Items will be noted as such in the item's description.

Sales Tax
Peters Valley is required to charge sales tax on purchases shipped to New Jersey.
Insurance
Insurance can be purchased separately through third-party company Route during checkout. Route provides protection for shipments that are lost, broken, or stolen. Route is added to your cart at checkout to enable protection by default, but can be removed if you chose to opt out of insuring your order. If you choose to opt out of the Route Insurance, and your package is lost, stolen or damaged, you will have to file a claim with the shipping carrier directly.
