Corian solid surface, cast aluminum

"I create furniture and functional objects at the intersection of analog and digital technology. I'm interested in how technology can assist in the manipulation and shaping of flat materials into three-dimensional forms through motions such as bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Through simple gestures and articulation I highlight the interactions we have with functional objects. The Murmur Stool takes advantage of 3D modeling and printing. The Corian seat is molded from press molds that were CNC milled after first being digitally modeled. The cast aluminum base of the stool was first 3D modeled and then 3D printed in a castable resin which was then used in the lost wax casting process. Subtle movement and softened curves allude to the murmur that gives this stool its name."
